What is the Meaning of “Group Dynamics?” Women’s Group Glendora, Ilissa Banhazl, MFT

Join a women's support group women of claremont

Sit on the safest sofa in Glendora!

The definition of group dynamics is “the interactions that influence the attitudes and behavior of people when they are grouped with others through either choice or accidental circumstances.”

This dynamic is what allows you as a member of a group to experience personal growth.

Sometimes things get blurred or distorted when they are only inside your head. Letting safe people in can help you to normalize your thoughts and feelings and encourage you to consider alternate solutions.

There’s A Space Saved For You!

Have you ever thought about joining a support group and then changed your mind? Maybe you’ve even run this scenario through your head more than one time still coming to the same conclusion. No, I won’t join now.

Ever wonder what keeps you from making the call for that short-term commitment. You know the ways you think you would benefit from the support of group therapy so then why haven’t you joined yet?

See if you can find one or more of your reasons on the following list:

  1. I’m too busy!
  2. I can’t afford it.
  3. I don’t quite get how this group counseling works and it makes me a little uncomfortable.
  4. I don’t want to speak to people I don’t know.
  5. No one will understand what I’m going through.

I can think of a reasonable response to each one of these concerns. The question is “Can you?” Do the benefits of joining a group outweigh the obstacles? Are they really obstacles anyway?

If you’d like answers to the above concerns or any other concern that you may have feel free to email me at Ilissa@ilissabanhazlmft.com or for a quicker response please call my office at 626-335-0903. I’ll simplify it for you!

Is it time to get support in group therapy?

Written by Ilissa Banhazl, MFT-

The idea of joining a group can be a bit intimidating for some. Others are relieved to find a group of people dealing with similar issues. For those who feel unsure perhaps group therapy is somewhat of a mystery. It’s really a very simple, safe, & confidential place. A group of people will meet weekly for an hour and a half to talk about anything they want related to the group topic. You can ease your way in slowly until you feel comfortable. No one will pressure you to speak. I think you’ll find that in time the group becomes a kind of family. You’ll look forward each week coming to group to feel the support and friendship. The group will run for 8 weeks and at that time we will reevaluate whether the members want to continue or bring the group to a close. The fee is $45 each time we meet. If you have a PPO insurance plan you can receive partial reimbursement. If you are interested in one of the groups we will meet at no charge to talk about group and see if it is a good fit for you.

Feel free to visit my website at http://www.ilissabanhazlmft.com and take a look at all the different groups I run. See if there’s one that might be helpful to you. For more information or to join the group please call my office at 626-335-0903 or email me at ilissa@ilissabanhazlmft.com.
